My Kinect for Xbox 360 sensor works for a few seconds then shuts-off

There are two basic power adapters for the Kinect for Xbox 360. One designed for the Xbox only and one designed for the Xbox or a PC. If you have the former power adapter you may need to replace it with a power adapter designed for connecting a Kinect to a PC (instead of an Xbox).
